Kimmel Picks Up 1st Career ACHA Shutout as Wildcats Beat Oregon

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey defeated the University of Oregon 4-0 on Saturday night in front of almost 1500 fans at the TCC. The Wildcats now hold a seven game winning streak, and are a perfect 7-0 on home ice. Freshman goaltender Rhett Kimmel picked up his first career ACHA shutout stopping all 15 of the shots he faced. Wildcats captain, Anthony Cusanelli, stayed hot picking up two more assists to give him six points in his last three games. Defensemen, John Shivley, picked up his first ACHA goal in the win.

When asked about the atmosphere of crowd coach, Chad Berman, said “Our crowds have been awesome this year, it’s been a lot of fun having everyone out. We want to keep winning and we want to keep winning for you.”

Following the Thanksgiving break the Cats will be at home to take on rival Arizona State on December 3rd and 4th at 7:30pm. The Wildcats and ASU have each won a game in the Cactus Cup series so far, but the Wildcats outscored ASU 6-4 in the two games.
