Match Up: The #20 Arizona Wildcat hockey team will travel to #14 Illinois (6-0-1) this week to take on the Fighting Illini on the "Big Pond," on the campus of the University of Illinois. The U of I ice arena has earned its nickname for being wider than an Olympic ice surface leaving plenty of room for the players.
The Illini are coming of an impressive 3-0-0 sweep at the ACHA Division I Showcase this past weekend. Illinois defeated WMU, #17 Stoneybrook and #12 Davenport 5-1. Illini head coach Nick Fabbrini on the DU victory, “Davenport is one of the best teams we’ll face all year,” he said. “Winning 5-1 over a team of that caliber shows that we have what it takes to be one of the top teams in the nation.”
#20 Arizona is entering the weekend after a bye week and holding a 2-2-0 record.
Scouting #14 Illini: Scott Barrera is leading the Illini in points with 10 on four goals and six assists. John Olen and Austin Bostock have tallied nine points each. In net, Nick Clarke has sported a 5-0-0 record and a 2.24 GAA.
Scouting #20 Arizona: The Wildcats are clawing their way back to national contention and are lead upfront by Andrew Murmes with 10 points in four games. Brian Slugocki leads UA in goals with five. In between the pipes, Steve Sisler has seen the bulk of the minutes posting a .900 save percentage.

They know that if they play with the same energy and enthusiasm as this weekend we’ll win a lot our games from here on out.”...Andrew Murmes and Mike Basist were added as assistant captains this week for Arizona.
