The Arizona Wildcats are very excited to announce the addition of, Nick Zellmer; a right handed shooting defenseman from St. Louis, MO.  Zellmer possesses a rare combination of size and skill. Standing at 6’1” 210lbs, Zellmer comes to the Wildcats after playing the last two seasons at the University of Rhode Island, before that with the New Jersey Titans in the Eastern Hockey League.

“The thing that immediately stood out to me about Nick was his character and work ethic,” said Coach Berman. “Nick is a ‘late bloomer’ who has had to work for everything he’s received. Players like that understand the importance of going the extra mile to get an inch better. As a result, those kinds of kids don’t take anything for granted. I feel strongly that we just landed a great competitor, who is still elevating his game and has a chance to be a top-caliber Defensemen in the ACHA.”

Zellmer was a highly sought after defensemen in the ACHA. Before visiting the University of Arizona he already had campus visits with The University of Oklahoma, Ohio University, Stoney Brook, and University of Illinois.

“I am excited to start my next chapter in life and hockey career,” said Nick Zellmer, “I am really looking forward to meeting my new teammates and getting the season started so we can win some hockey games and have fun doing it.”

The Wildcats kick off the season against Northern Arizona University on September 25 and 26. Puck drop for both games will be 7:30 pm at the Tucson Convention Center.
