Arizona looks to put an end to their four-game losing streak this weekend against the Colorado State University (5-6) beginning this Friday night at the Tucson Convention Center.

After dropping two games last weekend at home against Oklahoma, the Wildcats will look to take advantage against a CSU team that will be coming straight off a game against Northern Arizona University on Thursday night.

After posting 36 saves on 38 shots last Saturday against the Sooners, Arizona head coach Chad Berman says sophomore goaltender Austin Wilson will be starting in net on Friday.

“I’m excited to get the opportunity to start off such a big weekend for us,” says Wilson.

Friday night will mark his third start of the season. This season, Wilson has come in two times in relief for Garrett Patrick, including against Arizona State. Berman and his teammates say they have been impressed by his performance in these situations.

“Every time Wilson has come in this year, he’s played a really strong game,” says Arizona forward Robbie Wilkinson. “Unfortunately, when [Wilson] has to relieve Garrett… it’s a little unfortunate. But I think [he] steps up to the plate and does a really good job.”

This week in practice, Berman says he has been working with his team on intangibles to help generate more offense.

This has specifically included, “working hard away from the puck to establish inside positioning, getting to the inside with the puck, driving wide with speed, and attacking the net.”

Berman added the power play was another area of emphasis this week.

With alumni in town, Berman says there is much reason for his players to give everything they have this weekend, on top of needing some wins.

The Wildcats will also be sporting their Camo jersey’s.

“We hope to represent our military members and veterans well and compete as a unit with the same ‘brotherhood’ they represent,” says Berman.

This Friday and Saturday night will mark two of three games the Wildcats will play against the Rams this season. Puck drop will begin at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
