The Wildcats nearly took home their second sweep in three weeks when they took on #22 Missouri State Ice Bears over the weekend.

On Friday night the Wildcats won 3-2, outshooting the Ice bears 50-28. This game marked the return of the Wildcats captain, Dylan Carter, who tallied the first goal of the game for the Wildcats, giving them a much-needed boost on the power play.

“Having Carter back in the lineup is huge for us,” said assistant captain, Orion Olsen. “His return immediately boosts our offensive production while also adding a strong vocal leader in our locker room. Having his consistent work ethic back in practice really helps to get all the guys going in the right direction.“

On Saturday night the Wildcats yet again outshot the Ice Bears 50-28 but were only able to produce one goal after 60 minutes of play and a 5-minute overtime. The Ice Bears eventually went on to win the shoot out 2-0, narrowly escaping with a victory.

“We have been struggling to score goals for a while now,“ said Coach Berman. “I was happy to see that we were able to generate 100 shots on goal over the weekend; however, we’ve got to find ways to capitalize on our opportunities. In saying that, I have been very happy with how we have played defensively. If you can keep your opponent off the board you will always have a chance to win.”

Over the last 7 games, the Wildcats have played four top-25 teams including: #4 Oklahoma, #13 Colorado State, #1 Minot State, and #22 Missouri State. During that stretch the Wildcats have held their opponents to a stellar 1.71 goals against average.

Next weekend (December 4h and 5th) the Wildcats will take on their rivals, Arizona State, at the Tucson Convention Center. Both games will start at 7:30pm. Friday’s game (12/4) will be a 'Red Out,' so make sure to bring your red shirts!
