The Wildcats upset #7 Ohio University with an impressive 3-2 victory on Thursday night.

It was a tightly contested game with a lot of speed and physicality. The Wildcats were able to jump out to an early lead with a goal by Anthony Rosetta on a beautiful pass from Toppie Hogan.

“It was great to see us come out and get the lead early,” said coach Berman. “It’s particularly satisfying since we have been putting heavy emphasis on creating better puck support and playing off the puck. Rosey made a neutral zone pass and never stopped moving his feet, giving himself and opportunity to gain a step on the Ohio defender, and Tops fed him with heads up back-door pass. I’m really excited about the development of Rosey, he is learning how to use his strongest asset to his advantage; his skating. It’s a great sign of things to come for Wildcat hockey.”

Austin Wilson was in net on Thursday night, again providing an impressive performance. The Bobcats were able to supply plenty of pressure, but Wilson was there to shut the door, stopping 50 of Ohio’s 52 shots on goal.

Another outstanding performance came from Junior center, Toppie Hogan, who ended the night with a point on every goal (2 goals and 1 assist).

“In big games like this you need your best players to step up,” said Coach Berman. “Toppie has been our best player for a while now. In my opinion, he’s a top player in the ACHA.  We play top ten teams every weekend, so his points don’t jump out at you. It was great to see him get rewarded, but to me, it would be a tremendous under sight to evaluate his game based on his three points. He had some huge shot blocks late in the 3rd period, putting his body on the line for the team, and won few massive face offs that we needed late in the game. He really did it all tonight, proving that you don’t have to wear a letter to provide leadership. This was a huge win for our program; everybody contributed, maximizing each person’s role.”

The Wildcats face off against Midland University Friday and Saturday night at the TCC. Both games will start at 7:30pm. Friday night’s promotion will be $1 hot dog night and buy-one-get one free tickets with a college ID. Saturday will be the 2nd annual ‘Pink the Rink’ event and ladies night.
