The Wildcats return home after a disappointing weekend in Tempe after losing 4-2 (EN) and 4-1, to their rivals, Arizona State.

“This was an incredibly disappointing weekend for us,” said Coach Berman. “In particular, Friday night was an embarrassing performance. We looked flat and were undisciplined. To show up  like that against our rivals is completely unacceptable. Saturday we played well, I thought we were the better team but we didn’t get the result we were after. We had some bounces that didn’t go our way, give them credit, they capitalized. The difference is we aren’t capitalizing on our opportunities. We had 47 shots on goal and had one goal to show for it. We have to find a way to finish our opportunities. Sometimes the better team doesn’t win, this is exactly why Friday night can never happen.”

For ASU, Ryan McNeely put on a clinic, contributing with two goals and two assists over the weekend.

“I am a big fan of the way that kid plays,” said Coach Berman. “He is one of the best players we have seen all season. He has exceptional ‘hockey sense,’ and as a result he picked us apart. He is very good at exposing ‘small area’ two on one’s and makes his teammates around him better. We had three top defensemen injured, so it was difficult for us to maintain a proper match up, especially on the road. All of our focus from here on must be about Colorado State next Thursday.

The Wildcats will continue their long road trip as they head to Fort Collins, Colorado to take on #25 Colorado State Thursday night.  They finish out the weekend road trip in Boulder, Colorado against #8 Colorado.
