Most Valuable Player: #33 Austin Wilson

Austin Wilson (AKA Grizz), a sophomore goaltender from Ludington, Michigan was named the Wildcats 2015/16 Most Valuable Player.

During his freshmen season (2014/14) Wilson served as the backup goaltender and performed well when given his opportunities. One year later, Austin stole the job and ran with it. Sometime around Christmas break the goaltending battle started to heat up, with both goaltenders recognizing the tournament was near and someone had to take the job. Although both goaltenders performed well, Austin got 'hot' at the right time.

“What can you say about Grizz," said Coach Berman. "I'm not sure that we would have made it into the tournament without him. After playing some of the top teams in the country, I would say three or four different teams had players in the handshake line complimenting how good he was. He is a very 'technically sound' goaltender who gained a lot of confidence and he got 'locked in'. If he puts in the work this summer, the sky is the limit for him."

Rookie of the Year: #23 Charlie James

Scottsdale, AZ native Charlie James (AKA Chuck Jim) was voted the Wildcats 2015/16 Rookie of the Year.

In 25 games played James posted 3 goals and 2 assists during his freshman season.

"We have only seen the beginning of Chuck's development," said Coach Berman. "He constantly stays after practice, putting in the extra work to improve. That is something that is not lost on our coaching staff. It’s not hard to root for a kid like that.”

“Chuck plays with an edge and brings it everyday. As he grows into his body and gains some confidence he will be a real force on the fore-check. We think we have a good young player that has a chance to develop into an impactful power-forward.”
