Eric Watters, born in Los Angeles, CA played for the University of Arizona Wildcats hockey team from 2010-2014; finishing his UA career with 22 goals, 10 assists, 32 points, and 37 penalty minutes in 124 games played. During his Wildcat days, Eric was elected by his peers as the Hustle and Desire Award winner two years in a row, solidifying his work ethic and character contributions to the hockey program.

Eric graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science (BS), Mechanical Engineering. He currently resides in Silver City, NM working as a Mechanical Engineer for Freeport McMoran.

When asked what he missed most during his time in Tucson there wasn’t much hesitation,” Everything Hockey,” said Eric Watters. “I miss all my teammates, roommates, road trips (even those wonderful Chandler practices), and the feeling of skating onto the ice Friday and Saturday nights at the TCC. It was such a great experience to be a part of that school and organization for 4 great years.”

“I think the two biggest highlights for me were beating ASU my senior year and playing in my final game at the TCC. Both were amazing experiences.”

Eric is the son of NHL Alumni, Tim Watters, a defensemen drafted by the Winnipeg Jets who went on to play in over 700 NHL games with the Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings (1981-1995). In that Stretch, Tim went on to compete with the Canadian National team twice in 1988 and 1980. After a very successful playing career, Tim took on a new role behind the bench as the Assistant Coach of the Boston Bruins (1995/96) and Head Coach of the NCAA Division 1 Michigan Tech Huskies (1996/97-2000).

Eric and Tim we are able to skate side as teammates last year during the NHL Alumni game vs the Arizona Wildcats on December 12, 2015 at the Tucson Convention Center. This event was a highly anticipated fan-fare packed full of excitement.
