#6 Toppie Hogan

Senior forward, Toppie Hogan, returns as the first consecutive player of the month, after posting 9 goals and 7 assists this month.

Toppie’s torrid start (18 G - 17 A- 21 GP) has placed him among the top scorers in the country; finishing the first half of the seson 8th in the ACHA and the leading scorer in the WCHL conference.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Top,” said coach Berman. “He’s a great example of what can happen when you work hard and do things the right way. Top is more than just a productive player; he is a leader, a competitor, great on face-offs, effective in all three zones, and an even better person. His competitive nature is what drives him, whether on the golf course or ice rink, he always demands more of himself. It’s an impressive quality that will serve him well beyond his time in Tucson.”

#22 Robert Smythe

Freshman forward, Robert Smythe, has put together an impressive month, tallying 2 goals and 11 assists.

Smythe was a highly regarded power-forward coming from the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL) and he has done nothing but exceed expectations. At the halfway point, Smythe has produced 3 goals and 12 assists in 19 games played.

“The thing with Smythe is we have only begun to scratch the surface on what he can do,” said coach Berman. “I have experienced taking a year off-it’s not easy. I’ve been stressing to him to keep plugging away and be patient, it will all come together. As a result, I think you’re starting to see a kid who is looking more comfortable, as evident with the recent wave of production.”
