The Wildcats have added their first goaltender to the 2017/18 recruiting class with the addition of Nolan Bivolcic, from Los Gatos, CA.

Bivolcic comes to the Wildcats after a breakout season with the Atlanta Capitals in the NA3HL. Before his time with the Capitals he split his season in the USPL for the Illiana Blackbirds and in the NA3EHL for the Wilkes-Barre Miners.

Last season Bivolcic’s put up stellar numbers with the Atlanta Capitals, finishing with a 2.48 goals against average and a 0.912 save percentage, in 29 games played. His impressive season was good enough to catch the attention of the Topeka Roadrunners of the NAHL, as he was called up for a brief stretch.

“I am ecstatic to start my collegiate career at the University of Arizona,” said Nolan Bivolcic. “I have heard nothing but great things about the program. The location and community were great contributing factors. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere at the TCC and all the passion the fans bring.”

Standing at 6’2’, 180 lbs., Bivolcic brings a top-end work ethic as a player that leads by example. As a result, he was selected as a team captain by his peers, an honor not often shared by goaltenders.

“Nolan is a big athletic kid with the kind of work ethic that we demand from our goaltenders,” said Coach Berman. “As I made phone calls to get a sense of his character and compete-level it was obvious the way he goes about his business. It’s very rare to see a goalie elected as a team captain and I think that tells you everything you need to know. When you look over his career statistics I see a kid who continues to get better every single year. There is no secret to success, the kids who put in the extra work are the ones who rise to the top. I am very confident that the best of Nolan is still ahead of him. I look forward to the impact he makes in the cage and in our locker room”
