The Arizona Wildcat Hockey program continues to receive impressive recognition for their commitments and dedication to community service.

Last week it was announced the Wildcat hockey team was being honored with the ACHA men’s division 1 Community Service Award winner. On Friday, April 29, 2017, the Wildcats received an extended honor; being named the Overall ACHA Community Service Award!

While all of the ACHA executives were gathered in Naples, FL for the annual ACHA meetings they voted on the overall ACHA Community Service Award. The teams eligible for the award were all of the divisional winners: Men’s D2, D2, D3, D4 and Women’s D1, D2, D3, D4. After voting on the overall winner, it was determined that The Arizona Wildcat hockey program went above and beyond all the divisional winners; leading to this prestigious award.

“This is an incredible honor,” said coach Berman. “Aside from the positive impact we were fortunate enough to make in our community, I think this really validates all of the hard work and dedication many of the payers and staff behind the scenes have contributed. We humbly share this award with the entire city of Tucson and all of the tremendously loyal fans we have at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC).”

“Our #1 priority is to excel beyond the rink as positive contributing members of our community. I see the influence first hand that these players have on my 5 year old son, this gives me very close perspective of the impact we have as role models in our community. It’s more than important, it’s a responsibility that we are honored to have. These values and experiences will serve our players well beyond their playing years. It’s a very proud day for our Hockey program – Bear Down.”

The current Wildcat hockey players are wrapping up their end of semester academic responsibilities before heading to their respective home towns to train and prepare for another exciting season of hockey. With 18 players returning from the previous roster, look for the Wildcats to hit the ice in September for what is shaping up to be a highly anticipated season full of excitement and entertainment.
