TUCSON, AZ –
University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey starts its 2017-18 season Friday, September 29 against Grand Canyon University, the first ever contest between these two teams.

Opening weekend continues Saturday, September 30 versus ultimate rival Arizona State University. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. on both nights at the Tucson Arena.

The first 1,000 fans on both Friday and Saturday night will get a FREE UA Hockey Schedule magnet. Friday is also “1-2-3 Night” -- sodas are $1, hot dogs are $2, and domestic beer is just $3.

UPDATE: Legendary Tucson hockey organist Michael Davis will return to the TCC to play in the Arena on both nights of the opening weekend! A generation of Tucsonans remember Mike’s organ-playing with Arizona hockey in the 1980s and 1990s – and he is back! A traditional organ is being installed by UA Hockey at the TCC for these opening-weekend games. Welcome back, Michael Davis!

“We need UA fans to support us in this pivotal season for Wildcat hockey by packing the TCC,” said Head Coach Chad Berman. “Starting the season with a new in-state foe and then following it on Saturday with our largest rival is a huge challenge. We need Wildcat fans to back us up.”

Arizona starts the ACHA season with a #19 national ranking as Coach Berman enters his fourth year behind the bench. The 2017-18 roster features 15 returning players and 15 new players.

The team will sport newly re-designed game jerseys this season, revealed exclusively at the public Media Day at the Tucson Arena on Thursday, September 28 at 4 p.m.

UA Hockey home game tickets are available at the TCC box office or by calling 791-4101 option #1.

GAME MEDIA: All Arizona Hockey home games are available through a FREE video Webcast at the team’s YouTube video channel, starting 10 minutes before game time. Live video pregame, in-game, and post-game video is also featured on the team’s Facebook page.
