University of Arizona Wildcat hockey will host archrival Arizona State at the Tucson Arena on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2 – the puck drops both nights at 7:30 pm. The #15 Wildcats have already defeated ASU twice this season, and with a sweep of these upcoming games the UA would capture The Cactus Cup – the trophy signifying the champion between Arizona and ASU hockey each season.

“These two teams certainly do not like each other,” said UA head coach Chad Berman, “but we need to focus on playing smart, fast, and keeping our focus for every minute. Our players come to Arizona to play in these big games, and we need Tucson to come out and support their hometown team.”

The ASU games will also mark the annual UA Hockey Alumni weekend at the Tucson Arena.

UA Hockey Alumni will play a game at 3:30 pm Saturday afternoon, December 2.

Alumni will also honor 1989-1993 Arizona forward Kelly Walker, one of the finest players ever from the 40-year history of UA Hockey, with a jersey retirement ceremony during the Saturday, December 2 game vs ASU. This will mark the first-ever jersey retirement in University of Arizona hockey history, and Kelly Walker and many of the best-ever Arizona hockey players will be present.
