FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TEMPE, Ariz. – University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey hoisted the Western Collegiate Hockey League championship trophy Saturday afternoon after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Arizona State.

Arizona improves to 30-7 and ASU falls to 7-28-3.

“This entire organization has worked so hard, for so long, and we deserve this championship,” Head Coach Chad Berman said of Arizona’s first WCHL crown. “We now need to summon the emotion to play the best game possible on Sunday to help secure a high berth in the tournament.”

#8 Arizona and ASU conclude the regular season Sunday, March 3 at 1 pm in Tempe at Oceanside Arena. The game will end ASU’s season, and Arizona will then wait to see what final national ranking it has earned and their seeding in the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament, which runs March 21-26 in Frisco (Dallas area), Texas.

The Wildcats already captured the Cactus Cup last weekend by winning the season series against ASU.

The Wildcats encourage all Arizona fans, whether in Tucson, Phoenix or beyond, to attend the game at Oceanside Arena to cheer them on. Tickets are available at the door, at 1520 N McClintock Drive in Tempe.

Arizona will also send their own Media Team to Tempe to produce the first-ever Arizona Hockey away-game video broadcasts. Media Director Timothy Gassen and UA student Jackson Peters will be on the call, with the broadcasts starting at 12:45 pm on Sunday, with complete post-game coverage. www.youtube.com/c/uahockey
