The Arizona Wildcat hockey program is proud to announce their first forward commitment to the 2019/20 recruiting class with the addition of two-way forward, Jesse Lowell!

Lowell, standing at 5’11” 190-pounds, comes from Northbrook, IL and spent last season playing for the New Hersey Rockets (NCDC) and a brief time with the Jamestown Jets (NAHL). Jesse is the brother of former Wildcat hockey alumnus, Jared Lowell (2009-2013), who eventually went on to play professionally in Sweden at the Division 1 level. Jesse will look to carry on the tradition of success and continue his family’s legacy here at the University of Arizona.

“I chose the University of Arizona because I wanted to follow in my brothers footstep,” said Jesse Lowell. “The opportunity to build on where my bother left off is a really special to me. On top of that, walking onto campus and into the TCC were two amazing feelings, I have always had a special place in my heart for the U of A so it only seems right to spend my next four years there.”

Jesse will forgo his remaining 2 years of junior hockey eligibility to come to the University of Arizona after a solid first season in a top Junior A league (NCDC) where he tallied 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) in 47 games played.

“I am really excited to add Jesse,” said Coach Berman. “He is an elite ‘glue guy’ with tremendous upside to be as good as he wants. When I watched film on him I saw a kid who is really good at a lot of things with the potential to be great at all of them. He plays a very dependable forward with a strong 200-foot game and can be used in any situation. We have a lot of returners next season so our challenge has been finding the right pieces to add and compliment the championship culture we already have established. We are looking for more kids who make consistently strong “hockey decisions.” We want to improve on our puck possession and forward depth - Jesse helps improve both of these needs, I can’t wait to get to work with him on reaching his full potential.”
