Arizona Wildcat defensemen Ben Jones has been voted by his peers as Rookie of the Year!

Previous winners include: Anthony Rosetta, Charlie James, Manny Rowe and Anthony Cusanelli.

The Imperial, Missouri native finished the season 7th on the team in points during his Freshman campaign with 20 points (5 goals 15 Assists) in 33 games played. Jones came to the Wildcats after coming one goal short of a National Championship playing for one of the NA3HL powerhouse programs - the St. Louis Jr Blues - alongside his Wildcat defense partner Matthew Hohl and forward Dawson Marshall.

Jones was able to step in an immediately and “quarterback” the #1 power play unit, which finished as the #1 power play in the WCHL with a 25.58 % success rate.

“We were thrilled a year ago when Jones committed because we knew he had the ability to step in right away and make an impact,” said coach Berman. “Jones and Hohl are a couple of additional reasons we are so excited about the future. We had to re-build our D-core last summer and those two will play a major role in what we hope to accomplish moving forward. Jones brings skill, grit, determination and is an excellent person. He is everything we look for in our program and we are excited to see the strides he makes over the summer.”

Jones is currently a Pre-Business major at the University of Arizona with plans to enroll in one of the highest ranked business schools in the country – the Eller College of Management.
