Arizona Drops Closely Contested Game vs. Colorado State

October 18, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey drop game 1 of weekend series vs. Colorado State. A late third period Power Play goal by CSU forward, Ben Joseph, was the only goal scored in the 1-0 game. Arizona Wildcats goaltender, Anthony Ciurro, stopped 29 of 30 shots to improve his save percentage to .893.

Coach Berman said after the game “I think Ciurro battled hard in net tonight. There were too many turnovers and we didn’t play our game today. We need to come in more prepared for tomorrow.”

The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow at 1PM to take on the same Colorado State Rams at the Tucson Arena. All students with a valid Cat Card will get a free ticket to the game, when they show their card at the ticket office. The Wildcats will also be hosting a Jr. Roadrunners day to help support local youth hockey.

Next week the Wildcats will be on the road again to take on Grand Canyon University for the first time this season. Arizona played GCU 4 times last year and scored 23 goals in the series. The Wildcats will return home after GCU to battle bitter rival Arizona State on Friday Nov. 1st and Saturday Nov. 2nd at 7:30PM. Friday night’s game the Cats will hang the Western Collegiate Hockey League Championship banner which the Cats won at ASU last season.
