Wildcats Drop Close Game in Overtime to Arizona State

November 1, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey battled hard against rival Arizona State, but could not find the goal in overtime to finish the game. Arizona State forward Brendan Studioso was able to find the back of the net to finish the game. Wildcats scored 2 goals in regulation, one by forward, Justin Plumhoff, and the other by Josh Larson. Nolan Bivolcic made 21 saves out of 24 shots for the Wildcats.

When asked about final thoughts of the game head coach, Chad Berman, said “I thought we played a competitive 60, we had a couple opportunities early we just didn’t capitalize on them. At the same time, you got to give their goalie credit I thought he played really well.”

The Wildcats will be back in action Thursday night at 7:30PM to take on Central Oklahoma on a Thirsty Thursday ($2 Beer/Soda). Arizona played Central Oklahoma on the road this season and earned a 1-0 win and a 6-2 win. Wildcats forward, Christopher Westlund, leads the team in points vs. Central Oklahoma this season with 3.

The Cats will play a pair of day games next Friday (11/8) and Saturday (11/9) vs. Oklahoma University (OU). Arizona bested OU on the road earlier this season 1-0 with goaltender Anthony Ciurro picking up the shutout. OU is currently ranked 19th in the ACHA and are coming off an off week.
