#5 Arizona Edges out #14 Las Vegas in a Close 2-1 Game

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey defeated the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Skating Rebels by a score of 2-1. Wildcats captain, Anthony Cusanelli, picked up the game-winning goal on a breakaway late in the 3rd period. Cusanelli’s goal came just 34 seconds after UNLV forward, Eric Williams, scored the game tying goal on a power play. Goaltender, Anthony Ciurro, picked up the win stopping 41 of a possible 42 shots. Ciurro improves his record to 9-1 with his only lose coming from Colorado State in a 1-0 game.

 When asked his game-winning goal captain, Anthony Cusanelli said “It was a good bounce back shift… it was a great play by Jesse (Lowell) there, having that composure as a freshman is pretty special. He made my job pretty easy there.”

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday November 23rd to take on the same Rebels from University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV). All University of Arizona students with a valid Cat Card will receive free admission to the game when they present their card at the box office. Family 4pack tickets are also on sale for Saturday’s game, fans can purchase 4 upper level seats for the low price of $24.

 Following Thanksgiving weekend, the Cats will battle bitter rival Arizona State on December 6th and 7th. Arizona is 2-2 vs. ASU this season and will look to end the semester on a high note. Saturday, December 7 will be the annual x-mas sweater contest as well as a special Skate with the Cats event happening after the game.
