#5 Arizona Drops Close Game in Overtime to #15 Arizona State

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey lost a closely contested battle on Friday night in overtime with a final score of 3-2. Wildcats forwards, Cully Olsen and Anthony Cusanelli, picked up the 2 goals on the night. Wildcats goaltender, Anthony Ciurro, stopped 29 of 32 shots and now holds a 12-1-1 record on the season.

 When asked the game head coach, Chad Berman, said “I think our guys competed well, we just missed out on some opportunities. We had a couple of odd-man rushes but were unable to capitalize which is something we need to be better at.”

The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday night, tomorrow, to take on the same Arizona State Sun Devils for the last time this semester. The Wildcats will celebrate the life media director, Tim Gassen, who passed away last Friday. Fans will be encouraged to sing Arizona fight song in honor of Tim as well as enjoy some of his music videos from his band “Marshmallow Overcoat”.

 Arizona will take a couple weeks off for the holidays following this weekends game. The Cats will be back in action on January 17th and 18th to take on Missouri State in a Western Collegiate Hockey League battle. Be sure to join at the TCC for both nights as the Wildcats support the community with Paws and Pucks Night (1/17/20) and Pink the Rink (1/18/20). The Wildcats will play the following weekend vs. Grand Canyon University before hitting the road for 5 games over two weeks. Arizona has one more series vs. ASU this season which will take place on February 28th and 29th of 2020.
