#5 Arizona Edged out by #15 Arizona State 4-2

 December 7, 2019

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey battled hard but was unable to come with a victory on Saturday night vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils. Arizona was able to cut into a 3-goal lead and make it close game until the final minutes with ASU adding a 4th goal.  Arizona goals were scored by forwards, Christopher Westlund and Ethan Stahlhuth. Wildcats goaltender, Anthony Ciurro, picks up the lose on the night to bring his record to 12-1-1.

When asked the game head coach, Chad Berman, said “This weekend was for Tim. All I asked was they bring the same kind of passion that he did, and I think they did. Sometimes you learn more about your team in the worst moments and I saw a lot of things that tell me when can go really far in the National Tournament.”

The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday January 17th to take on Missouri State in a Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL) conference game. All fans can purchase a $5 dog ticket and bring their pup to the game for the annual Paws and Pucks event. All money from dog tickets will be donated to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. The Cats will also host Missouri State on January 18th for the annual Pink the Rink game to raise money and awareness for the Arizona Cancer Center.

Following the Missouri State weekend, the Wildcats will host Grand Canyon University on the 23rd and 25th of January. The Cats will then hit the road for 5 games vs. Colorado State, Colorado, and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The Wildcats will host ASU for one more series this season on February 28th and 29th. We hope you all enjoy your holidays and we look forward to brining you more Wildcat hockey in 2020.
