#9 Arizona Overpowers Grand Canyon to Win 6-3

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey overpowered Grand Canyon University 6-3. The Wildcats, led by Max Meyer with 2 goals, scored 2 goals every period to earn the win on Thursday night. Wildcats Captain, Anthony Cusanelli, extended his goal-scoring streak to 3 games after scoring with 9.5 seconds left in the third period. Cusanelli has scored 5 goals in the 3 games while collecting 7 points during the streak. Wildcats goaltender, Nolan Bivolcic, earned his third straight win to improve his record to 6-1-2 after stopping 31 of 34 possible shots.

 When asked about Arizona’s performance in the second semester Wildcats forward, Max Meyer, said “It’s really important to get those wins, but there are still things for us to work on. We are going to come out on Saturday and be even stronger.

The Wildcats will be back in action Saturday, January 25th to once again take on the Lopes of Grand Canyon University. It is the last Saturday 1PM game of the season, which means it is last time for fans to purchase Family 4packs (4 tickets for $24). The Wildcats will host the annual “school kids day” where 8 local schools will join the team for the game and have the opportunity to see the locker room after the game.

Following the Grand Canyon series, the Cats will hit the road to battle Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL) opponents Colorado St. and Colorado. Following those games, Arizona will head to Las Vegas to take on the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in a two-game series. The Arizona Wildcats will finally return home on February 28th and 29th to end the season with a rivalry weekend vs. Arizona State. The Cats will celebrate senior night during the ASU weekend as well as auction off the white third jersey’s.
