February 29, 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey defeated Arizona State 3-1 on Saturday night to win their 3rd straight Cactus Cup. Arizona started the night by celebrating the 8 graduating seniors before scoring 3 third period goals to beat ASU. Seniors, Christopher Westlund and Bayley Marshall, each scored a goal with Manny Rowe earning an assist. The Cats finish the regular season with a 25-4-3 record.
When asked about the game winning goal, and Cactus Cup clinching goal, Bayley Marshall said “It was really surreal, it was a tight game yesterday and tight today… We got a 2-on-1, Meyer gave a nice pass across and it found its way into the back of the net.”
The Wildcats will be back in action at the ACHA Division 1 National Tournament, taking place in Frisco, Texas March 19-26. The Cats will learn who they play in the first round later this week after the final ACHA ranking come out. Anthony Cusanelli finishes the season as the leading scorer for the Cats with 34 points in 32 games played.
Arizona Wildcat Hockey would like to give a big thank you to all the fans that came out this weekend, and all those that continue to support us. The hockey program would not be where it is today without the support of the Tucson Community and for that the entire team and staff is extremely grateful.
