The Arizona Wildcats continue their reload for the 2021/22 season with the addition of skilled forward Brody Selman.

Brody Selman, standing at 5’9”, 180-pounds, comes from Mahwah, NJ. Serving as a team captain for the Protec Jr. Ducks, an expansion franchise in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Selman currently leads his team with 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 29 games played. He is currently ranked 21st in points in the EHL.

Before his time with the Ducks, Selman played for the New Jersey Rockets (NCDC), the Omaha AAA Hockey Club where he was team captain, and the New Jersey Hitmen (USPHL-EL).

”I’m extremely excited to attend the University and to be joining a top hockey program with a winning culture,” said Brody Selman. “The academic and athletic opportunity is something you don’t pass up at a special place like Arizona. I am really excited to play for coach Berman and represent such a great University ”

Brody comes from a family with a strong hockey background. His brother Justin played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) and eventually went on to play at the University of Michigan where he was teammates with current NHL stars, Dylan Larkin (Detroit Red Wings) and Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets). After his collegiate career, Justin went on to play professionally in the American Hockey League (AHL) and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Brody brings a high skill level that can be used in any situation. However, it is the impact he can make beyond that skill set that has made him so appealing to coach Berman.

“We are incredibly excited about the addition of Brody,” said coach Berman. “He has all of the character ingredients you would want to add to a winning culture.  In fact, in my 12 years of coaching, he had the best reference calls I ever received. Whether you talk to his coaches, former players, or read an article about Brody, they all start with the same theme—he is a really great person. I am sure his parents are really proud as we will be to have him represent our University and hockey program.”

“Once it was obvious that Brody represented the qualities we demand of our culture, it was really fun to dive into the details of his game. The thing that really stands out with Brody is that he does so many little things right. His speed and hockey IQ will fit in perfectly with our quick transition game. Beyond that, we are getting a fierce competitor, a natural leader, and someone who wants to be a part of something bigger than himself—which is a really important quality for our identity as an organization. Additionally, we were in desperate need for a left-handed shot that could come in and make an immediate impact. As the process continued, it became obvious that we were a perfect fit for each other, which is always the best-case scenario. We don’t just take anyone here; you have to really want to be a part of this.  We couldn’t be more excited to add Brody to our group.”
