The Wildcats continue to add to their reload for the 2021/22 season with the addition of local power-forward, Will Josephson.

Josephson, standing 6’1” 180-pounds, comes from Phoenix, AZ, where he excelled in the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes program alongside recent 2020/21 commit, Matthew Marquis. After his time with the Jr. Coyotes, Josephson spent a couple of years playing Junior A hockey with the Soo Thunderbirds in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL). In 64 games played with the Thunderbirds he tallied 28 points, with 6 goals and 22 assists.

“I am very excited to be joining the University of Arizona Wildcats hockey program,” said Will Josephson. “I am Looking forward to contributing to the success under Coach Berman and playing the next 4 years in an exciting college atmosphere. Having grown up in Arizona, this is a great opportunity to continue my education while playing college hockey and staying close to my parents who have supported me through it all.  This program is in a great spot and I cannot wait to see what we can do in these next 4 years.”

As the Wildcats aim to “reach higher,” it is clear that coach Berman has his sights set on what it will take to jump into the top-5 of the national rankings.

“I think we are finally at a point in our program where we want to start thinking bigger,” said coach Berman. “Watching the National Tournament, you had better be ready to battle and grind for a full 60 minutes - sometimes more. It becomes a battle of will, discipline and determination. Goals are at a premium on the big stage, so it’s critical that we excel in the trenches and are using our speed to apply pressure all over the ice.”

“Will is a kid that brings a relentless forecheck and is very difficult to play against. It’s the second and third efforts that really stand-out on film. I also think he has a really interesting upside to his offensive game once he learns how to be the power-forward we project he can become with sometime in the weight room. Beyond that, he is another great kid to add to our culture. We always start our process with a focus on culture and Will is a no-brainer in terms of another really quality person in our room.”
