Wildcats Complete Sweep of Arizona State for 9th Straight Win

December 4, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey defeated Arizona State University 1-0 on Saturday night in front of 3,000+ fans. Wildcats goaltender, Nolan Bivolcic, stopped 29 of 29 shots to earn his first shutout of the season. Wildcats captain, Anthony Cusanelli, scored the only goal in the game on an incredible no look pass from Max Meyer. The Cats wrap up the first semester on a 9-game winning streak and a perfect 9-0 on home ice.

When asked about the game goalie, Nolan Bivolcic, said “2-0 against them at home is pretty good… defensively we were real good tonight, but I think we have a lot more coming down the road.”

The Cats will be back in action early in the Spring semester on January 7th and 8th to take on Minot State. Minot State won the National Championship in 2019 and were the runner up in 2020. They are currently ranked in the top 5 of the ACHA and will be the toughest opponent Arizona will face thus far this season.

The Wildcats have 4 more games scheduled against ASU this season including some Saturday day games starting at 1pm. The Cats will face ASU next on January 27th, during the annual Pink the Rink game. Arizona needs only 1 more win to clinch the Cactus Cup for a fourth consecutive year.
