The Wildcats are on the prowl again, this time on defense, adding former NCAA D1 commit, Jerrett Overland!

Jerrett Overland, standing 5’10”, 160-pounds, comes from Las Vegas, Nevada and brings a wealth of hockey experience. During his 18U AAA year with the Anaheim Jr Ducks, while also playing with recent Wildcat transfer, Tyler Shetland, Overland committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the US Air Force Academy. After his time with the Jr. Ducks, he went on to play junior A with the Wenatchee Wild (BCHL), Jersey Hitmen (NCDC) and most recently the Walpole Express (EHL).

“I chose the University of Arizona because of the balance of hockey and school,” said Jerrett Overland. “Not only are you getting a top-notch education, but you are also able to play a high level of hockey as well. I am excited to get there and help bring a national championship to Tucson!”

Overland brings elite hockey IQ and puck movement that will fit in perfectly with the Wildcat’s quick transition game, something coach Berman couldn’t resist.

“We are really excited to add another very talented piece to the mix,” said coach Berman. “Jarrett helps us in two areas we aim to improve next season: both, our power play and transition game. We have added a lot of speed and skill up font, so we need guys that can advance the puck quickly and help generate our offense. That is exactly what he brings. Clearly, I have some very difficult lineup decisions ahead of me, I imagine we are in for some very competitive practices next season.”

Stay tuned as the Wildcats continue to reload for the 2022/23 season!
