The Arizona Wildcats have snuck in a last-minute addition to the 2022/23 recruiting class. A player who has significant bloodlines to Wildcat hockey, playmaking forward, Dylan Walker.
Walker, standing at 5’10,” 180-pounds, comes from Chicago, Illinois and is the son of former Wildcat Legend and all-time leading scorer, Kelly Walker. Kelly Walker also currently stands as one of only two retired jerseys within the Wildcat hockey program, along with recently retired defenseman, Jeremy Goltz.
Dylan comes to Tucson after playing junior hockey in the NAHL and NA3HL with the Danbury Hat Tricks organization.
“I chose Arizona not only because it’s my father’s alma-mater, but it suits all my needs accordingly. There aren’t many schools in the country with 40,000 students, palm trees and still have any outstanding hockey program. I am incredibly thankful to now be able to say I am a part of the at the University of Arizona.”
Dylan Walker, much like his father, has a flare for the offensive dramatics, often finding himself on the scoresheet, something coach Berman was aggressively searching for this offseason.
“Clearly we needed to add offense this summer and Dylan is another playmaker that brings that in bunches,” said coach Berman. “I also think it’s cool to see him follow his dad’s footsteps and put on the Wildcat sweater. Like everyone else on our roster, he will have to earn what he gets, but we certainly believe he has the ability to make an immediate impact. He has great hockey IQ, a good nose for the net and a quick release to his shot. Defensively he has some room to grow but has a good defensive stick which often can create something out of nothing quickly.”
You can see Dylan and the rest of the Wildcats as they hit the ice at the Tucson Convention Center for the home opening series on September 30th and October 1at against Davenport University.
