The Wildcats have added their second player over the holiday break with the addition of skilled forward, Sam Myers.

Myers, standing 6’1” 185-pounds, comes from Edmonds, WA as a transfer student from Stevensons University (NCAA DIII). Prior to his time at Stevenson University, Myers originally committed to the University of New England (NCAA DIII) coming out of juniors. Myers spent his junior career in the NCDC playing for the Jersey Hitman, Connecticut Jr Rangers, New Jersey Rockets, and the Northern Cyclones.

“I decided to transfer to the University of Arizona to have a bigger college experience,” said Sam Myers. “I haven’t had that opportunity over the last couple of years, I am looking forward to getting started.”

Myers brings a high hockey IQ and skill set that coach Berman thinks could really make a big difference.

“We are really thrilled to add Sam to our group,” said coach Berman. “We have a young team with limited available spots for next season, so adding any player right now, especially at forward, needed to be a particular fit. We wanted to add a little more offensive punch to our roster and Sam gives us that in bunches. He is a powerful skater with great vision and knows his way around the net. When you watch film on him you can see how smart he is on and off the puck allowing him to consistently produce at a high level. He really changes our depth, allowing other guys to slot in where they can be most effective. We are excited to see how this translates into our second semester, especially with a very tough schedule ahead.”

Myers is the second player added to the roster in recent weeks, along with defensemen, Nicholas Chiocca. Both are players coach Berman expects to make an immediate impact.

“Adding two players of this caliber mid-way though the season is a huge get for us,” said coach Berman. “We are always looking for ways to get better. This is a tough league and we have had some success, but we want a whole lot more. When you look around the league it’s the same programs playing in the final four most years. We want to be that kind of a program - always having a shot at a National Championship - adding players like this to our already strong culture gets us one step closer. I am excited to see how this all translates on the ice.”
