Wildcats Take Home Some Conference Honors before National Tournament

March 6, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey is proud to announce four Wildcats were honored on the end of season Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL) Conference awards. Wildcats forward and team captain, Jesse Lowell, was named the WCHL All-First Team; while senior goaltender, Nolan Bivolcic, was named to the WCHL All-Second Team. Freshman goaltender, Niklas Seppännen, and forward, Dylan Walker, were named to the WCHL All-Rookie team after impressive rookie seasons.

Arizona Wildcats head coach, Chad Berman, had this to say about the player awards “We are incredibly proud them. We have a great group of guys in our room. When you have good people get rewarded for their hard work it’s easy to be proud of them. Nobody sees the time and effort they commit to the classroom, weight room, travel, long practices, etc. So, it is always great to see them being recognized for their commitment to excellence. Especially since this is a coaches vote. I think it’s the ultimate compliment when it comes from your competition.”

The WCHL Conference awards are determined by a coaches vote at the end of every regular season. Wildcats forward, Jesse Lowell, finished the regular season with 19 goals, 17 assists for 36 points in 29 games played. Goaltender, Nolan Bivolcic, closed out the year with a 11-6-2-1 record, 2.68 goals against average, and a 0.905 save percentage. Rookie, Dylan Walker, finished with 7 goals, 14 assists for 21 points in 22 games played. Rookie netminder, Niklas Seppännen, finished with a 5-3-0-1 record, a 3.07 goals against average, and a 0.900 save percentage.

The Wildcats have one home game left before heading off to the ACHA National Tournament. The Cats will take on the Arizona Coyotes Alumni for a family friendly fun tune up game this Friday, March 10th, at 7:30pm. This is the last opportunity to see the Cats at home for 2022-2023 hockey season.

The Wildcats are headed to the 2023 ACHA National Tournament in Boston, MA, and the Cats need your support. You can help support your Cats by checking out the crowdfunding link through the University of Arizona.
