The Wildcats make a huge splash, adding North American Hockey League (NAHL) Robertson Cup MVP, Brendan Williams!

Williams, standing 5’9”, 165-pounds, comes from San Juan Capistrano, California and is coming to the Wildcats after winning the 2023 Robertson Cup with the Oklahoma Warriors (NAHL). The Warriors defeated the Austin Bruins on a late goal in the third period to clinch the NAHL Robertson Cup National Championship. In addition to that hardware, Williams was named the 2023 NAHL Robertson Cup MVP after putting up 12 points in 8 games played! Before being traded Oklahoma for the 2021-22 season, he played 16 games with the Coquitlam Express (BCHL).

Williams had this to say about committing to the Wildcats:

“I chose the University of Arizona because they are a great organization with a really good chance to win a National Championship,” said Brendan Williams. “It was something I wanted to be a part of and I am really excited to get started.”

In talking with coach Berman, the Wildcats aren’t just adding a really talented player, they are adding a winner!

“This is a massive addition to our team,” said coach Berman. “Anyone in the country would love to add Williams. He plays with elite vision, is really good off the puck, has very quick feet and can finish. We have been chasing grit all summer, the only exception was if we could find ourselves an ‘x-factor’ type of player and I think we just did that. Furthermore, he is a winner. Not only in the sense of him coming off a national championship, but also to win the MVP says an awful lot about him. Not everybody has the ability to step up under pressure. After what I saw in his tournament run with Oklahoma there is no doubt that he lives for the big moments. That can’t be taught. We feel very fortunate to add him and we can’t wait to get started!”

The Wildcats’ home opener will be against in-state rival, Arizona State, Saturday, September 23rd. Stay tuned for more updates, including the pending schedule announcement, season tickets and so much more.
