Cats Complete Sweep of ASU on Pink the Rink

Tucson Ariz.- University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey picked up a 4-3 victory over rival Arizona State on Saturday night to complete the weekend sweep. The Wildcats now hold a 3-2 series lead in the Cactus Cup and need just one more win to secure for the sixth consecutive year. Forward, Sam Myers picked up two goals in the win. Freshman, Trystan Swiger, continued his hot streak with a three assist night. Senior defenseman, Ryan Fischer, scored the game winning goal midway through the third period to secure the sweep for the Cats. Goaltender, Niklas Seppanen, picked up the win stopping 25 of the28 shots faced.

The Wildcats hosted their 9th annual Pink the Rink game on Saturday that saw Arizona hockey players wearing pink jerseys. Fans and community members were able to purchase jerseys and have the name of a loved one put on the back of jersey to honor those who have fought cancer. Through the efforts of our great fans and the University of Arizona Cancer Center the Wildcats were able to raise over $5,000 for cancer research. The Wildcats are honored to have the platform they have in the Tucson community and the opportunity to work with the University of Arizona Cancer Center.

The Wildcats are headed into the winter break following the game tomorrow. After little over a month off the Wildcats will hit the road to play a series vs. Maryville. Maryville, coached by former Wildcat player John Hogan, is a top 10 ranked opponent and should make for an exciting series.
