Tucson, AZ Several Wildcat Hockey players volunteered their time over the off weekend and made a visit to the Tucson Festival of Hearts. Freshman goal tender Bob Schultz, freshman defenseman Shane Gleason, junior defenseman Nick Stolz and junior captain Brian Slugocki made time to stuff pillow hearts (coughing pillows) that will be donated to UMC. These stuffed heart pillows are given to young heart surgery patients to help aide them with coughing (a requirement to help clear their lungs post surgery) and can be painful with the surgical incision.
Wildcat Youth Hockey's Patty Moreno spearheaded the UA Hockey's involvement with the festival.
"I want to especially thank Patty Moreno for organizing many of our volunteer opportunities for our players. She has done a great job aiding in the growth of our student athletes off the ice," commented head coach Sean Hogan.
"As a youth player I always admired the college hockey players I was around. It is important to us that we serve as role models in our community and we are excited when we have opportunities like this," stated Shane Gleason.
