#13 Arizona falls to #1 Arizona State in First Game of Weekend Rivalry

By UA Hockey, 12/06/13, 10:15PM MST

Tucson, AZ #13 Arizona fell to #1 Arizona State tonight with a final score of 7-4. The Arizona Wildcats took the lead for the majority of the first period until a penalty shot gave Arizona State the goal they needed to make it a tie game at 3-3.

The start of the second period saw a short delay when a hard hit against the boards broke a panel of glass. Arizona quickly tallied a goal after the delay taking the lead once again but then struggled to come back after ASU took an unanswered three goal lead in the third period.

Both UA and ASU tallied up multiple penalties during the night as more than a couple fights between the two rivals broke out.  Arizona ended the night with 34 shots on goal and Arizona State shot 44 pucks at Arizona’s freshman goalie Garrett Patrick who stopped a huge 37 of them.
