After pulling a major upset just two weeks ago on the road against the University of Oklahoma, The University of Arizona Wildcats were swept by the Sooners in a two-game series this past Friday and Saturday night at the Tucson Convention Center.

On Friday, Arizona found themselves in an early hole when OU defenseman Mason Miller found the puck past Arizona goalie Garrett Patrick just 8:16 into regulation. Patrick would give up two more goals in the period.

Trailing by three goals, Sean Ozment finally put the Wildcats on the board at 7:06 into the second period. However, OU would respond with two back-to-back goals.

With 15 seconds before the end of the second period, forward Brian Hogan scored to put the Wildcats back in the game.

Hogan carried this momentum into the intermission, scoring again just over five minutes into the third period to make the score 5-3. Arizona would fall by a final score of 6-3 on Friday.

After multiple scoring chances so far this season, Hogan was relieved that he was finally able to capitalize with two goals.

Hogan believes the score was not reflective of the team’s hard play. However, he also emphasized the team was not successful because of too many defensive breakdowns.

Backup goalie Austin Wilson started in net on Saturday, recording 36 saves on 38 shots. With the Wildcats offense unable to produce, Arizona was shut out by a score of 2-0.
