FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TUCSON – University of Arizona Wildcat hockey will host the University of Utah Utes on Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 13 at the Tucson Arena. The puck drops 7:30 pm both nights.

The Friday, January game 12 is the annual Nova Home Loans Teddy Bear Toss. Fans can throw teddy bears onto the ice following the first Wildcat goal and the bears will then be donated to the local Aviva Children's Services.

Saturday, January 13 is the fourth annual UA Hockey Pink the Rink cancer awareness fundraiser, presented by Safeway and Albertsons.

Wildcat players will wear special pink jerseys and several will have a name of a loved one on the back, sponsored by donations. All proceeds benefit the University of Arizona Cancer Center, and the game-worn jerseys will be presented to the donors in honor of those who have survived cancer or who have passed on.

#13 Arizona enters the weekend with a 17-7 record after a decisive 15-0 victory against Grand Canyon University last Saturday. The Wildcats defeated Utah twice – by scores of 5-2 and 5-3 -- when the teams met in November 2017 in Salt Lake City.

“The Teddy Bear Toss and Pink the Rink are two of the most meaningful games of the year,” said UA head coach Chad Berman. “We thank the community for coming together once again to help us support these important causes."

Similar past team efforts helped UA Hockey win the national American Collegiate Hockey Association “Community Service Award” for “outstanding charitable volunteerism and charitable fundraising” for the 2016-17 season.
