The Wildcats have added two important pieces to their 2018-19 recruiting class with the addition of the Marshall brothers! Bayley and Dawson Marshall, from St. Charles, IL, are the first two forwards in the upcoming forward recruiting class. – Filling two very important roles.

“We couldn't be happier in deciding to continue our hockey careers at University of Arizona next year together,” said Bayley and Dawson Marshall. “We are looking forward to not only going to a great school, but being apart of the Wildcats hockey team where they've created a phenomenal environment on and off the ice. We hope to contribute our abilities to this team and help to make a push for a national championship in the years to come as Wildcats. “

Bayley Marshall, standing at 6’3”, 195-pounds, will be a transfer player from WCHL conference rival, University of Central Oklahoma (UCO).  Bayley is considered one of the top centers in the WCHL, as he was named to the 2017-18 WCHL All-Rookie Team, alongside Arizona freshman standout, Anthony Cusanelli.

UCO, coached by two-time WCHL Coach of the Year, Craig McCallister, has been one of the top teams in the ACHA for quite some time, winning two of the last four National Championships.

“Adding Bayley to our already very strong group of centers is a tremendous addition to our young team,” said coach Berman. “ He brings everything we have been targeting in one package: size, skill and great hockey sense. He should make an immediate impact in all phases of the game.”

Before his time with UCO, Bayley played his junior hockey in the NAHL with the Kanai River Brown Bears and the Brookings Blizzards, before eventually committing to play NCAA DIII at Aurora University.

Dawson Marshall, 5’11” 175-pounds, will be the third player in this recruiting class (Ben Jones and Matthew Hohl) to come from the St, Louis Jr Blues (NA3HL). The Blues came one goal short of a National championship this past season.

Dawson is a very versatile forward who can play any forward position, is great on face-offs, and thrives at the intangibles of the game.

“We really needed a player like Dawson,” said coach Berman. “He is very responsible defensively, blocks shots and thrives in the gritty areas of the game. Because of this, I think he has a chance to be a really good penalty killer for us. Every championship team needs a kid who enjoys doing the ‘blue-collar’ work and plays with a 'hate to loose' attitude. In addition, he has a sneaky skill set. He distributes the puck well and brings good energy to every shift. He is the kind of player that makes the guys around him better.”
