FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TUCSON, Ariz – University of Arizona Wildcats Hockey now owns the #6 ranking in the national American Collegiate Hockey Association poll, released today. This top-ten ranking is the highest spot earned by the Wildcats in more than a generation.

“These players, this hockey organization, and this university have worked tirelessly for Arizona Hockey to reclaim its place among the nation’s best,” said Head Coach Chad Berman, now in his fifth season behind the Wildcats’ bench.  “This ranking is just a start – but this is also a moment that the Wildcat Nation should cherish. We are building a special program here. All the hard work is paying off.”

Arizona Hockey returns to Western Collegiate Hockey League play on Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1 versus archrival Arizona State at the Tucson Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 pm both nights.

Arizona now boasts a 14-3 season record, and sits in second place of the WCHL. The Wildcats could finish the first semester of play in first place with a sweep of Arizona State.

“There is no doubt that playing Arizona State always makes these the most important hockey games of the year in Tucson,” said coach Berman. “We need everyone in Tucson to jam the TCC and show their support for their hometown hockey team.”
