TUCSON, Ariz – University of Arizona Wildcats Hockey is tied for first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey League – and will host its top league challengers this Thursday through Saturday at the Tucson Arena.

The puck drops at 7:30 pm for all three games.

#15 Oklahoma starts the weekend Thursday, January 17 at the TCC. #8 University of Central Oklahoma, currently tied with Arizona for the league lead, visits on Friday, January 18 and Saturday, January 19.

“This is the most important home series for us so far, no doubt,” said head coach Chad Berman. “We can control our own league destiny with good play this weekend, and the stakes are high for all the squads. We’ve worked hard for years for this opportunity. We need Tucson hockey fans to come to the TCC and support us.”

Arizona is in pursuit of its first WCHL championship. Central Oklahoma is the reigning league champion, and has won two national championships this decade. Arizona won its national championship in 1985.

#7 Arizona boasts a 19-5 record and owns its highest national ranking in a generation.

Thursday is the popular “Thirsty Thursday” with $2 beers and $2 sodas, Friday is “50% Off Macho Nachos” night, and Saturday is the “Pink The Rink” fundraiser for the Arizona Cancer Center.
