#6 ARIZONA WILDCATS HOCKEY
ONE WIN FROM LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
AFTER 7-3 VICTORY VS #16 COLORADO

February 2, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona Wildcat Hockey defeated the University of Colorado 7-3 Saturday afternoon at the Tucson Arena. The win completes the three-game weekend home sweep of Colorado State and Colorado.

Arizona Hockey (26-6) is now just one win away from guaranteeing its first Western Collegiate Hockey League crown. The Wildcats have two WCHL games remaining, March 2 and 3, at Arizona State.

Chris Westlund powered the Wildcats on Saturday with a third period hat trick (three goals), and Bayley Marshall added two tallies. Anthony Cusanelli and Ethan Stahlhuth also scored for Arizona.

“We are learning what it takes to win championships,” Head Coach Chad Berman said. “This Colorado team should make the national tournament, and will be dangerous there. We had to be at our best to beat them.”

Arizona has just two home games remaining in the 2018-19 season, Friday, February 22 and Sunday, February 24 at the Tucson Arena – both vs archrival Arizona State. A win in either of those (non-league) games would secure the Cactus Cup championship – the trophy for the winner of each season’s UA vs ASU hockey series – for the Wildcats.
